The top Iranian diplomat, who is in New York to attend the Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East and Palestine as well as diplomatic consultations, held a meeting with the President of ICRC.
While thanking the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross on Palestine and Gaza, Amir-Abdollahian described the humanitarian situation of the oppressed Palestinian people as very worrying, saying, "Unfortunately, political, double-standard and wrong approaches have so far led to the political efforts to end the Gaza crisis remain unsuccessful."
He also expressed concern about the potential humanitarian catastrophe that could occur if Netanyahu carried out his threats to attack Rafah, which could deepen the scale of the disaster.
The top Iranian diplomat warned against the escalation of tensions, noting that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been self-restraint.
For her part, Egger expressed deep concern about the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and thanked Iran for their political efforts to help end the war.
She explained the ICRC's efforts in providing aid and reducing the suffering of Gazans, stating that she would make every effort to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in Rafah.
